About This Issue

This month in the Homeless Voice we look back on the legacy of our friend Michael Stoops. Stoops was a homeless advocate and mentor of Sean Cononie. He shares a few words for him in, “A Letter to My Mentor.” Former coworkers of Stoops also remember his impact and share some pictures from various rallies he’s organized.

Included in this issue is also some reader commentary. One woman shared her experience she had with a homeless man she had encountered many times. In, “The Gift I Got Back,” she shares this story.

Finally, we looked at some local news. In Stranahan Park in Fort Lauderdale, officials had to vacate homeless because of a rat infestation. Some advocates though suspect this was a set-up to remove the many homeless who normally call Stranahan Park home.
