October 27: Eric Raphael McMahon, 48, was discovered severely beaten in a back alley, and taken to the hospital. The next day, police removed him from life support. A witness described the two attackers as young men. One 15-year-old boy was arrested and sent to a juvenile detention center, but his name has not been made public due to his status as a minor.

Police are searching for a second suspect.

Of this incident, Sgt. Tim Schmidt, spokesman for the Abilene Police Department and Crime Stoppers, told Dallas Morning News, “It seems like a senseless, violent act by people who have no respect for other people. It’s just a brutal act seemingly unprovoked.”
